CRISIS IN THE CAREER OF MR. NATWAR SINGH

K.N.Rao.

For purely personal reasons I did not want to be specific and I wrote the following on my website (www.journalofastrology.com) concealing the identity of the person in whose career I saw the crisis. Now the entire nation knows about it and it is international news. I had written it in April 2005 when there was no indication of any such event ever happening.

Of course, getting so close to USA as never before in the history of India, can be deemed to be a story of successful foreign policy of India. One perception can be and is that India's foreign policy was never so successful as now. But then that is a matter of individual perception and assessment whether becoming a pet child of uncle Sam is a story of success.

THE TIMES OF INDIA
Natwar melts in Volcker heat; quits Cabinet
Tuesday, December 06, 2005

NEW DELHI: Cabinet Minister without portfolio K. Natwar Singh on Tuesday night announced his resignation from the Cabinet.

Making the announcement outside his residence, Singh said he did not want to be an excuse for the Opposition to stall Parliament.

"Hence, I have decided to tender resignation from the Union Council of Ministers despite the fact that I have not violated any law in letter and spirit," he said declining to answer the question whether he has sent his resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Natwar Singh said Parliament continued to be stalled and important legislative business of significance to India's future was being held up.

"I reiterate that I am completely innocent and no charge has been framed or brought up against me. However, Parliament and Congress are above individuals. I don't want to be an excuse for Opposition to stall Parliament.

Hence, I have decided to tender my resignation from the Union Council of Ministers despite the fact that I have not violated any law in letter and spirit," he said.

HIS CAREER: my analysis

Every successful man has many enemies who succeed in humiliating him when astrologically he runs into an unfavourable period. Mr.Natwar Singh ran into the mahadasha of Jupiter well placed in the birth horoscope involved in an excellent exchange with Venus which is exalted but debilitated in navamsha. The antardasha he ran into from March 2005 was of Mars debilitated third and the eighth lord in the navamsha of Kanya the enemy of Mars. If he lost his battle against his enemies in this period it is well explained.

Mr.Natwar Singh was a brilliant student of Delhi University and the marks he obtained in his masters examination in history was an unbroken record for many years and perhaps remains so todate. His personal collection of books in his personal library will be the envy of many scholarly professors of many universities and his contact with famous men of letters starting with E.M.Forster is well known. He is also a successful author of many books. How many in Indian politics can claim to have such a record ? Together with his wife the daughter and first child of the late Maharaja of Patiala, late Yadavendra Singh, have deep respect for priests and astrologers. Both of their horoscopes show lack of happiness with their children. Their daughter in law died mysteriously and the daughter is said to have committed suicide. Now in the big controversy his son Jagat Singh figures so prominently.

Then after getting selected through a competitive examination for the Indian foreign Service, on merit, he , rose to become the Secretary of the External Affairs Ministry and is todate the only foreign service officer who also became the foreign minister of India.

He started his career in the Indian foreign Service in the Nehru era, under Jawaharlal Nehru when the bipolar world of those days with USSR and USA left no chance for any nation , particularly India, to remain truly non aligned. Yet, Nehru had kept alive the myth of non aligned nations with Egypt and Yugoslavia teaming up with India in what was known as the non-aligned movement. Yet, what had been clear all those years was the Nehruvian hypocrisy of leaning openly, not very subtly, towards USSR and talking of dynamic neutrality.

The death of Stalin made no difference to this hypocrisy in Indian foreign policy. In later years under Indira Gandhi, the daughter of Nehru young foreign service officers of those years imbibed the Nehruvian traits and accepted them as gospel truth. In fact, Indira Gandhi fell into a gregarious hypocrisy of concluding a treaty of friendship with USSR and also leading the non aligned movement with others, like her father. President Reagan of USA had nearly dismissed this movement as the noise of "client" states because they depended so much on financial aid of rich nations for their sustenance whom they abused. It was well known those days that the government of Indira Gandhi in the pre 1970 period depended on the mercies of India's communists under the instruction of USSR. The outlook of many educated young men was shaped by these ideas though good many levels of Indian bureacracy, newspapers, particularly in English were well penetrated by CIA. Mr. Natwar Singh was steeped in it, so deeply perhaps that even fifteen years after the collapse of USSR, he recreated that old world and lived and breathed in it.

Did the collapse of USSR in the post 1990 world make a difference to those foreign service officers many of whom had retired ? It is a question which will elicit different answers from different persons. In the case of Mr.Natwar Singh, it is said and is being said even now that he lives mentally in those 3 bygone days of Nehruvian era even in the changed unipolar world of 2005. No wonder, USA disliked him and a senator has gone on record calling Mr.Natwar Singh a Stalinist long before the Volcker report created such a big crisis in his life. There is some truth in the story of USA disliking Mr. Natwar Singh. It can also be concluded that the pro US men in the cabinet of Manmohan Singh and bureacratic circles and his enemies in the Congress party, found this occasion to do their damnest against him and bring him down. Known as a Nehru loyalist, Mr. Natwar Singh, has been so close to Sonia Gandhi that he may have thought that his position in the party was impregnable. Sonia Gandhi had to save herself and the Congress party in the face of fierce opposition onslaught. She had to decide to sacrifice her staunch loyalist.

It is unimaginable that Mr.Natwar Singh can live and breathe in the dead era of the Nehruvian foreign policy which was given part burial in the era from 1991 to 1996 when P.V.Narasimha Rao was India's prime minister and the formal and full burial now by the present Indian Prime minister, Manmohan Singh some others in his cabinet and high bureacratic positions shaping an Indo-US ties. It will be heartily disliked by Russia and China and envied by Pakistan which under its dictators from time to time, from Ayub Khan to Pervez Musharraf, have gone down on its knees to become a darling of USA inspite of mass hatred of USA by its citizens because USA gets identified as world most powerful enemy of Islam.

A crisis in Indian foreign policy did arise when after the Volcker report, Mr.Natwar Singh did show strong anti US sentiments while the prime minister Manmohan Singh was wooing USA as no Indian prime minister has ever done.

If and when a full and honest investigation will prove or disprove the truth of the Volcker report, we will know, if Mr. Natwar Singh had succumbed to such filial weakness as Indian fathers are known for particularly politician fathers who would not mind their children exploiting their position for various benefits, particularly financial. A debilitated Mars aspecting the fifth house of his horo-scope has a story to tell here. The saptamsha shows the tragedy ensuing in the antardasha of Mars in the eigth house. The mahadasha lord, Jupiter is the fifth lord here aspecting the eighth house together with Saturn.

In Jaimini's Chara dasha, it is the dasha of Karka from where the fifth house has two malefic aspects of Mars and Rahu, The antardasha is of Vrischika from where the fifth house has the aspect of retrograde Saturn also the Putrakaraka. Saturn the fifth lord also the Putrakaraka aspects the tenth house both from Parashari and Jaimini angles.

When I saw it in April, I had seen only a crisis in the career of Mr. Natwar Singh and the effect of the eclipse of 17 October was a clear and ominous confirmation. It is now that I have seen how the son too gets involved in this episode.

An illustrious career ends now so tragically. In transit, Saturn is on his natal Mars and Mars on his natal Rahu. And the story gets completed when it is seen that retrograde Saturn in his horoscope aspects the tenth house showing Mr. Natwar Singh the exit door as Saturn in the tenth house or aspecting the tenth had brought down Herr Hitler (Germany), Richard Nixon (USA) and Indira Gandhi, and scores of those who rode high in their political careers once and suffered an eclipse in most unpleasant ways. Though their fatherland is dead, Indian communists, particularly the CPM, support Mr. Natwar Singh and it was clear to everyone that Mr. Natwar Singh had hoped that they would save him because it is on their mercies that the government of Manmohan Singh depends. Indira Gandhi had leaned on the mercies of Indian communists via USSR and hated USA. Manmohan Singh also leans on these communists and amorous intimacy with USA. Mr. Natwar Singh was an odd man in this scenario performing an awkward Bharat Natyam of Indian foreign policy.
