SATURN'S TRANSIT
Saadhe-Saati Series of Articles

A. Radhika

Normally, astrologers predict events of life by examining the natal horoscopes and dasha. Astrologers do not generally take pains to calculate shodashvargas and ashtakavarga may be because it is a very tedious work. They have limited themselves to the birth charts and transits and this has resulted into faulty analysis of a horoscopes. They also don't work on Ashtakavarga.

Ofcourse of primary importance is to establish the correctness of the horoscope. While analysing the horoscopes, transit of slow moving planets should be carefully examined. We should not restrict ourselves only to the transit of Jupiter or Saturn from Moon.

Further, it is also seen among astrologers, that Saturn's transit is considered bad, except in 3/6/11 houses from Moon. The concept of sadhe-sati is invariably taken as influence of evil influence for all lagnas and rashis. What is sade-sati ?

When the Saturn transits 12th, 1st and 2nd house from one's natal Moon, it is called sade-sati.

As Saturn takes 2 1/2 years in one house, it takes 7 1/2 years in total in these 3 houses.

How to Calculate Sade-Sati.

According, to Sri.Katwa,to calculate the sade sati, first note the natal Moon's degrees, then subtract 45 degrees from Moon's degrees and then add 45 degrees to the natal Moon's degrees, so this orb will be beginning and ending point of the sade-sati in one's horoscopes, i.e sade sati begins when Saturn is 45 degrees behind Moon and ends when it crosses 45 degrees beyond Moon.

We should also judge the houses in which the sade-sati is taking place. Besides, houses planets and naksahatras which the sade-sati influences should also be considered. Depending upon that, good or bad results can be analysed. We have to restrain ourselves from making generalised predictions.

Had it been that bad, how is that so many Indian leaders became Prime Ministers during sade sati(refer the article by Sh K N Rao on 15 Prime Minister in Journal of Astrology 2nd Issue, July-Sept 1997).

While discussing the above points, now let us analyse the three horoscopes which are very famous and here we are very sure about the birth and other life details. They are of Indira Gandhi, and her two sons Rajiv and Sanjay Gandhi, because they are undebatable and accurate.
