KASHMIR (Updated)
Today, 5 August 2019 has become a historic day in our history as something which could not be done in 70 years has taken shape now. Union Home minister Amit Shah has announced that Article 370 which grants special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir will be scrapped. He also announced that Jammu and Kashmir will no longer be a state and it will be bifurcated into two Union Territories— Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.  read more...read more...
WITHERING AWAY OF CONGRESS PARTY
Is ours an ideal democracy!! Hardly so, it is far from being an ideal democracy; where there should be  two equal opponents, like Conservative and Labour party in Britain; like Republican and Democratic party in USA. As for India, for the two major parties here i.e. Congress and BJP there has never been a state of relative equilibrium. There was a time when Congress was all powerful for a long time, BJP had not come into existence then. BJP came into existence and gradually spread its wings and the status now of present election result on 23 May 2019 is that BJP alone bagged 303 seats and 353 seats along with its NDA Alliance. Congress on the other hand could muster only 52 seats; along with UPA, Congress got 91. Other parties won 98 seats. What to talk of equality, Congress party could not win even 55 seats which is the requisite 10 % to become the official opposition. read more...read more...

RAJAT GUPTA: THE SHATTERED AMERICAN DREAM

A failed Indian student in an American university had asked me many years ago if he could become the Bill Gates of India and seeing my hesitation, added quickly that he too had broken education like Gates and had a “genius”. “Failed” is what you have told me but if you have a genius it has to be revealed through some achievement of yours which technocrats must recognize, not a man like me”, I told him and gave him an assessment of his horoscope which made him unhappy. That was more than ten years ago.

A Pakistani young man who had visited Delhi some years ago asked me if he could become Mukesh Ambani of Pakistan. Not to discourage him I asked him to work hard, succeed in his business first then ask the question. He did say depressingly that Lahore where he lived had many explosions throwing day to day life out of normal gear.

But one Indian who has really fired the imagination of many Indians, engineers who had done MBA, is Rajat Gupta. He had become the role model of many young Indians who are now shocked by the news of his punishment by US judiciary. In some television channels it was discussed and some newspapers gave it adequate coverage in India.

It was a super romantic story of what they call “the American dream”, meaning moving to USA succeeding and becoming rich (filthily?) whatever the means. In every American story of success it is ends that justify means.

Getting some events of his life, I attempted to frame a horoscope.

Rajat Gupta Horoscope

At a glance, becoming a citizen of foreign country at once helped me decide on Dhanu lagna with the fourth and twelfth lords conjoined in close degrees.

Working in a foreign country where he rose helps us confirm it with the combination of the ninth and the tenth lord in the twelfth house.

A technical planet in the fifth house aspected by Jupiter, the planet of management conjoined with the fifth lord, shows the career of an engineer who has done MBA. I checked through different Varga charts and different dashas also to double check these events.

Other facts which can be verified are:

1.) When Gupta was five the family moved to New Delhi, where his father went to start the newspaper Hindustan Standard. It would have been in Ketu Mercury, Mercury being in the twelfth house and so the Chaturthamsha should be Meena with Mercury in the twelfth house.

2). Gupta's father died when Gupta was sixteen. Give him Mesha dwadashamsha and it is seen easily in VENUS-JUPITER period. Gupta's mother died two years later.  (VENUS-JUPITER or SATURN)

3) Rajat Gupta married Anita Mattoo, two years his junior, in 1973 after they had met at IIT. It could have been in the beginning of Venus-Ketu period.

4) He received a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) in 1971. It could have been in Venus Mercury, Mercury as lord of the tenth house gave him a distinction while Venus aspecting the fifth house was the period of education.

5) He received an MBA from Harvard Business School (HBS) in 1973, where he was named a Baker Scholar which could have been in Venus-Ketu, Venus in the twelfth in the dashamansha while aspecting the fifth house in the birth horoscope and is with Ketu in the eleventh house of achievement.

6) Perhaps slightly before his MBA or round about this time in Venus Ketu he married out of his caste and community as Karka navamsha lagna with Ketu in the seventh house should show.

7) Gupta began his career in New York before moving to Scandinavia to become the head of McKinsey offices in 1981 which should be in Moon Mars, and Mars being the 12th lord of foreign country.

I verified it through Chara dasha and other dashas and transits to stick to Dhanu lagna 10/08 degrees which gives me his birth time as 07/48/54.

It explains why in Rahu mahadasha in the fifth house of speculation and the antardasha Venus, the sixth lord of punishment judicially, led to governmental investigation. In both the lagna and the dashamansha, the lords of the mahadasha and antardasha are in six eight position.

Worse still, Sun is in sarpa dreshkona of imprisonment. His punishment has come in this period.

As the Rahu dasha ends, some traditionalist astrologer’s hold, the money earned is lost. But there is something more, the combination of the fourth and the fifth lords with the eighth lord is the big career upset and if the longevity factor is taken into account the Jupiter-Saturn period will have to be watched.

Is it all going to end ---not with a bang but with a whimper?
