Illustration
One (Horoscope)
1. The lagna is Simha with two
malefics and the lagna lord is the Sun in the sixth
house.
2. The Moon is in the sixth house
at five degrees and thirty seven minutes and within
two degrees of the Sun whose degrees are three and
thirty minutes. It is a weak Moon and so badly placed.
3. Two benefics, Jupiter and
Venus are in kendras but are with malefics.
4. There is no malefic in the
third or eleventh house.
5. The child was born in the
major period of the Sun, which is to be followed by
that of the Moon of ten years and of Mars, retrograde,
in the lagna. This child born with brain palsy is
unable to walk and crawl. Though in the United States
of America, the parents of the child who can afford
the best of medical treatment being rich, have given
up hopes. The prediction given was that the child
would not survive. The latest information is that
the child is nearing its death (1994).
Second Illustration
(Horoscope)
This young girl was born in the
major period of Mercury, the lagna lord, which is
afflicted by Saturn (the third aspect) and Mars (the
fourth aspect) and is in the second house.
1. The only benefic Jupiter in
the tenth house is retrograde.
2. The only malefic in the eleventh
house is Mars which is debilitated, and therefore
weak.
3. The Lagna is afflicted by
Rahu.
4. After Mercury, there is the
period of Ketu of seven years in the seventh house,
a killer-house.
5. The dasha to follow is of
Venus in the second house afflicted by Saturn and
Mars again. This girl suffering from failed kidney
is struggling between life and death (1994).
The Third Illustration
(Horoscope)
1. The lagna has malefic eight
lord, Saturn, who is also the ninth lord.
2. The lagna lord, Mercury is
debilitated but with Jupiter.
3. Two benefics are in kendras,
Mercury and Jupiter but Mercury is debilitated.
4. This boy was born in the major
period of the Sun with a balance of five years, one
month and eleven days.
5. Next came the period of the
Moon, the second lord, and the boy was doing well
in his studies. Then came the sub-period of Saturn
in the major period of the Moon.
6. The picture does not become
apparent unless the navamsha (the ninth division)
is seen.
In the navamsha: (a) The Moon
is the second house with Mars and is aspected by Saturn.
(b) Mercury whose sub-period
the boy was running when his paralysis became acute
is the eighth lord from the navamsha lagna while he
is the lagna lord of the birth horoscope.
(c) The Moon as the second lord
of the birth horoscope and being associated with Mars
who is also the sixth lord, lord of the navamsha is
in the second house.
The boy did not survive as soon
the Moon-Venus period began. Venus in the twelfth
house in the birth horoscope and afflicted by Ketu,
is also afflicted in the navamsha by Ketu, Saturn
and Mars.
Fourth Illustration (Horoscope)
The fourth illustration is rather
intriguing.
1. The boy was born in the major
period of Saturn, the seventh and the eight lord,
retrograde in the eight house. The seventh house is
the house of death while the eighth is the house of
prolonged illness.
2. One of the principles of Hindu
astrology is that Saturn and Rahu can be unconditional
killers, if they are ill-placed or are associated
with malefics.
3. Another subtle principle of
Hindu astrology is to examine the results of a mahadasha
from the Moon. Here from the Moon Saturn is the twelfth
lord (hospital) while the sub-period lord Rahu who
is in the twelfth house is with Mars, the second lord
from the Moon
4. As it is, during the period
of Saturn, the seventh and the eighth lord, in itself
bad, the sub-period of Rahu came round about 1979
and the boy died of kidney failure in a hospital (Rahu
in the twelfth house with Mars, representing operation
surgically).
5. The lone benefic in kendra,
Jupiter was not effective in saving the boy as the
aspect of Saturn (third) ruined the beneficience of
Jupiter.
Fifth Illustration
(Horoscope)
1. Here not a single planet which
is known as a benefic is in a kendra.
2. The Moon, the seventh lord
is with Rahu and both are very close in degree.
3. Mars at eighteen degrees aspects
(forth aspect) the Moon-Rahu combination very closely.
4. Saturn, retrograde also aspects
the Moon from the eleventh house.
5. Saturn as the second lord
is the killer while Mercury as the sixth lord of diseases
is weak, being debilitated. She suffered from blood
cancer and died in December 1978, when she was passing
through the period of Saturn and Mercury sub-period.
Sixth Illustration (Hitler) (Horoscope)
This is the horoscope of the world famous Herr Hitler
of Germany a great hero for some and a great villain
for others. We are not concerned with that controversy.
Some of the principles given in the check-list can
be tested here.
1. Benefics in kendra — Only
Venus which is retrograde and Mercury which is badly
afflicted with Mars, the Sun and the tenth aspect
of Saturn.
2. Malefics in the third — Only
Ketu in the third is the lone malefic.
3. Are the lagna lord and the
Moon ill-placed? The lagna lord in the seventh house
of death is both retrograde and is with malefics and
is also aspected by Saturn.
4. Is lagna afflicted? Yes, by
Mars, the Sun, retrograde Venus (the lagna lord) and
an afflicted Mercury.
5. Is lagna lord afflicted? Yes,
as already discussed.
6. Is the Moon afflicted? Yes,
by Ketu and is also ill-placed in the third house
and is in association with the third and the sixth
lord Jupiter, which made him the hero he was.
7. The Mahadasha and sub-periods
— It was the mahadasha of Rahu, the unconditional
killer and the sub-period of Venus (retrograde) and
with so many malefic influences on it, that killed
him.
8. Were malefics in transit harmful:
Saturn and Rahu were in Mithuna, seventh from Hitler's
Moon on April 30, 1945 and Mars, Venus and Mercury
were in Meena, the sixth house from the lagna and
the fourth house from the Moon. Hitler died in Rahu
major period (the unconditional killer) and the sub-period
of Venus (retrograde). It has been stated that a retrograde
benefic is hardly helpful. Hitler committed suicide
after marrying Eva Brown to save his life-long girl
friend from the infamy of being his mistress
