KASHMIR (Updated)
Today, 5 August 2019 has become a historic day in our history as something which could not be done in 70 years has taken shape now. He also announced that Jammu and Kashmir will no longer be a state and it will be bifurcated into two Union Territories— Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.  Lees meerLees meer
WITHERING AWAY OF CONGRESS PARTY
Is ours an ideal democracy!! Hardly so, it is far from being an ideal democracy; where there should be  two equal opponents, like Conservative and Labour party in Britain; like Republican and Democratic party in USA. As for India, for the two major parties here i.e. Congress and BJP there has never been a state of relative equilibrium. There was a time when Congress was all powerful for a long time, BJP had not come into existence then. BJP came into existence and gradually spread its wings and the status now of present election result on 23 May 2019 is that BJP alone bagged 303 seats and 353 seats along with its NDA Alliance. Congress on the other hand could muster only 52 seats; along with UPA, Congress got 91. Other parties won 98 seats. What to talk of equality, Congress party could not win even 55 seats which is the requisite 10 % to become the official opposition. Lees meerLees meer

'COUP DE GRACE' FOR SHIV SENA

( The remark of Sachin Tendulkar that Bombay “belongs to all Indians” was in the context of the recent hate mongering campaign against northern Indians particularly by the MNS of Raj Thackeray. Shiva Sena chief, Bal Thackeray took this opportunity to attack Sachin Tendulkar perhaps not to give to Raj Thackeray the opportunity to attack Sachin first and appeal to the Marathi pride. That is the story in the press at the moment. What interests us is whether the horoscope given answers our needs astrologically.  K.N.Rao)

Some time back we had talked about the ailing Bharatiya Janta Party and discussed astrologically how the BJP had become a Kati Patang. It was also inferred that BJP would not be able to revive its position and the factions and infighting were going to continue. Presently, BJP's loss in the assembly elections in the three states of Haryana, Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh and its more recent crisis in Karnataka is again pointing towards the continuing sickness and the need to cure the party of a disease which has attacked the very core of its existence.

Now another party, Shiv Sena, which had been in throes of crisis, seems to have received the coup de grace with the debacle of Maharashtra State Assembly Elections. This is Party's third defeat in state elections in a row. Shiv Sena, which was amazingly well-knit into the fabric of society, has gradually lost its grip. Balasaheb Thackerey, the party supremo seems to have betrayed the trust of the 'Marathi Manoos', and Manoos does not care any more. Shiv Sena is the party which has believed in the rule of force and is famous for its violent protests, rioting and all that can be called unlawful. Yet, at many points of time it was also the favored party of Mumbaikars. Its political approach was centered around the concept of Bhumiputra, which fanned regional Maratha sentiments to gain power. This does not seem to work any more.

Now nearing the end of his life, the 'father Bala Saheb' wants to makes sure that the reigns go in real Putra's hands. The nephew who was spurned in favor of own progeny fights for his rightful place.

The Shiv Sena's aura of invincibility wore off 'Coup de grace' for Shiv Sena when son nephew rift erupted noisily in the open. In short, crisis couldn't have been worse and Manoos couldn't have been more disappointed.

Does the party face an extinction? Let us see the astrological reasons for this fiasco.

Shiv Sena was founded as a political party on 19th June 1966 at Mumbai. For any astrological examination, the problem of the authentic horoscope crops up. Sri KN Rao gave me two different horoscopes of Shiv Sena to work on, one of which could be correct he said. One was having Karka Lagna and the other one was with Vrishchik lagna. Both the horoscopes had full trik houses, 12th for Cancer lagna and 8th for Vrishchik. Many planets in trik houses and weak kendras do not make a strong horoscope. The road to rise is often strewn with pitfalls, as was obvious in case of Shiv Sena. I had to find out which horoscope was correct.

On careful scrutiny of the two horoscopes and their dasha sequences, Vrishchik lagna lorded by Bhumiputra Mars appeared to be the correct lagna for Shiv Sena. I am presenting some reasons based only of a study of natal chart which support the possibility of Vrishchik Lagna.

Stronger lagna: For Vrishchik lagna, lagna lord Mars aspects lagna making it strong and aggressive where as for Cancer, lagna is weak without any aspect and lagna lord is in 12th house. With Cancer lagna, the party is almost powerless and cannot be expected to be of any significance at all. For Vrishchik lagna, 9th lord in 8th house has given longevity and staying power and despite many pitfalls, the party has survived and risen through adverse situations. For Cancer lagna, both lagna lord and 9th lord in 12th house do not augur well for party's long life and rise.

Trade Unions, Conflicts and Violence: Violence is an integral part of party's credo. The party has been practicing violence with both karma (action) and vachana (speech). Lord of violence Mars with Rahu in7th  impacts upon the lagna, 10th  and 2nd  of speech. Aspect of lagna lord Mars on 2nd  house accounts for the fiery oratory of Sena Supremo and other Shiv Sainiks. The party has been involved in a series of violent conflicts with the communist trade union activists, it has orchestrated violence against Muslims, allegedly having played an active role in the riots in Mumbai following the demolition of the Babri Mosque in 1992. There is also an exchange of 6th lord and 7th lord indicative of constant play of violence, retaliation and defense. Cancer Lagna does not support any such violence and aggression.

Trik houses, 6/8/12 are the houses of difficulties, obstacles and termination and the periods related to these houses are the periods of danger and sickness. For a political party, when kendras and trines are weak, these periods cause humiliation, loss in elections, factions and divisions. With five planets in trik sthanas, the party could not get any sustainable success. It was been pronounced dead several times. Rajni Patel tried to get it banned during the Emergency, but Indira Gandhi rejected Patel's plea, some hold, at the instance of Sanjay Gandhi. Despite 45 years of existence, the party has been striving to create its strong hold amidst controversies. It appears to be a case of chronic sickness.

March 1995: A period of Victory It took the party nearly three decades since its foundation in 1966 to come to power even at the state level. After joining hands with BJP for the past 22 years, the party could score only this single victory in Maharashtra State Assembly Elections of 1995. As per Vrishchik Lagna, the party was running Saturn's Mahadasha since June 1991. The party was running Saturnrcury1995. Saturn is 3rd lord of valor and 4th lord of masses in 5th . Mercury is 8th  lord of transformations and 11th  lord of gains. Interestingly, Mercury is the only planet in the chart who is strongly placed in own house and is vargottam. Mercury also forms a Vipreet Rajyoga.

In Saturn-Mercury, posited in Kendra to each other, the party pulled up the victory. From moon Mercury is the strong rashish and has Saturn in 10H which makes it a Karka planet. Mercury is also the 4th lord of masses which could conjure up mass support for the party. However, with Mars-Rahu aspecting lagna, the party couldn't digest power and took it as a license to bully! The party literally gave an object lesson in how not to govern. Since then the Sena-BJP combine has ended up with a hatrick of failures.

For Cancer Lagna chart, in March 1995, the party runs Jupiter-Moon. Both the planets are in 12th house. Moon is lagna lord and Jupiter is 9L in 12th. A victory in such a dasha and antar seems improbable. Period of Divide and Decline from 2003 In January 2003, Bala Saheb appointed his son, Uddhav, as the executive president, when Raj Thackeray, his nephew had been grooming himself to take on his uncle's mantle. The hurt and resentment was never forgotten by Raj Thackerey.

The loss of State Assembly Election in October 2004 intensified the discomfort and expulsion of Narayan Rane in July 2005 sparked further internal conflict in the party. In December 2005, Raj Thackeray left Shiv Sena and founded a new party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Ever since this split, there have been regular clashes between the followers of the two Senas. Periods of Saturn-Mars and Saturn-Rahu have brought about losses and factions within the party. Mars and Rahu in Maraka seventh house aspected by another malefic Saturn, who also aspects 2H, another maraksthan and attacks the body of the party to create divisions and factions.

Debacle of October 2009 in the dasha chhidra In the recent Legislative Assembly results in Maharashtra in October 2009, breakaway splinter of MNS divided and split the votes and the advantage went to the Congress. This has been another terrible blow for the ailing Shiv Sena. The party showed the worst performance, as it won just 44 seats in 2009 as against 63 in 2004. The Sena-BJP government was a colossal failure.

According to Vrishchik Lagna, party is now under dasha chhidra of Sat-Jup. Period of dasha chhidra heralds major changes. Starting from December 2007, this period has been rather turbulent and seems to be realigning the party forces. Jupiter is the 5L and disposits Saturn. 5th house being 8th house to 10th also denotes a loss of authority. It indicates a weakening of party high command as Bal Thakerey was seriously ill earlier in the year and it also denotes losing of elections when Jupiter and 10th  lord are placed in the house with 8th lord.

New Mahadasha: Change of Guards The party will enter Mercury's Mahadasha in June 2010. Mercury is 8/11 lord in 8H. Mercury is a strong 8Lord in 8House. Jupiter, the 2/5 lord is also conjunct mercury in 8H. Jupiter, the antardasha nath who hands over to Mercury, aspects 4H and 12H from 8H. Both the luminaries are also in the 8H. Here I would point towards the special transits coming up in near future. Saturn has moved into Virgo, another sign of Mercury and aspects the 8th . Jupiter will soon enter Aquarius and will aspect the 8th thus activating a double transit on the 8th  house.

Rahu will change sign soon and will transit over the natal Jupiter and Sun in the 8th house. This shows a strong focus of dasha as well as transits on the eighth house. It appears to be a period of transformation of Shiv Sena. The party faces a near extinction situation. The break has already happened and with the end of era of Bala Saheb, we may find the parent body disintegrating and the rightful heir with his budding MNS takes off.

An interesting situation emerges when we put together some other relevant charts.
  • August 2009: India enters Sun's Mahadasha (from India's Independence chart)
  • March 2009: Congress Party enters its Jupiter's Mahadasha
  •  June 2010: Shiv Sena enters Mercury's Mahadasha
  • April 2012: BJP enters Sun's Mahadasha
There is an indication of a change in political scenario in India's chart, not only in the leadership, but also in the ways of governance. In India's chart Sun is the 4th lord influencing the cluster of planets and bhagya in 3/9 axis.

Congress has already proved its prowess in 10th lord Jupiter's dasha and it also is shifting its priorities and intentions more to garner public support than to push its ambitious dynastic plans. BJP has a promising Sun's dasha after 3 years, so it is likely to be caught in internal realignments and consolidation.

Shiv Sena, however, seems to be caught up in the eighth house affairs, more so in upcoming Mercury's dasha and faces extinction or death like situation in the present dasha chhidra. The infrastructure of goons may not survive for long and both the party and its founder seem to be in the danger of extinction. The old party may not be able to make any mark in future while the breakaway fraction of MNS may find a better hold.
