TRAILANGA SWAMI - II
In 1810, Raja of Ujjain paid a visit to Kashi. He along with Kashi Naresh, was on a boat going towards Manikarnika ghat when he saw the shining figure of Swami sitting on water. On inquiry, he was told about the extra ordinary powers of the saint. The King was very impressed and as if sensing his wish to see him, Swami appeared on the boat. The King was glad and showed his extra ordinary bejeweled sword to him. The saint did not even think for a moment and threw the sword in water. When the King got in a fit of rage and grief, Swami put his hand in water and extracted two similar swords from the water. He asked the King to recognize his sword, which he obviously could not do. Swami told him sternly that he was troubled for the sword when he could not even recognize which one was his sword. That was his way to show him the futility of the physical attractions of the world. read more...read more...
JALLIANWALA BAGH MASSACRE
One year more than a century has passed, still no one has forgotten the brutality with which the atrocious killing at Jallianwala Bagh was carried out. Jallianwala Bagh is located at a distance of barely one and a half kilometers from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. On 13 Apr 1919, on the day of Baisakhi (an important Hindu festival) at 5:37 in the evening, when more than 10,000 people (some say there were 15,000 to 20,000) were gathered in the Jallianwala Bagh, acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered to shoot at the unarmed, innocent public.

ASTROLOGICAL GIMMICKS 1

A student of astrology asked me how could he recognize frauds among astrologers. I said that it was for him to find out and not depend on my experience. I told him , when he repeatedly asked me the question, to keep in mind the following:

Daily, Weekly, Monthly Predictions

When the astrologer is anxious to give , daily, weekly or monthly predictions for each of the twelve rashis dividing humanity into twelve groups of fifty crores (five hundred millions) rest assured that he is willing to commit a “mass fraud”, as an editor of an English newspaper put it once. If he does it in television programmes and also writes it anywhere rest assured that he would compromise any sacred principle of jyotisha only to gain publicity.

Also see if he has any website where he displays it boldly. He has killed his conscience and is still boastful with his self proclaimed greatness.
This shows how the astrologer wants to become a pop astrologer and do marketing.

Kala Sarpa Yoga

Now find out, if he talks of Kaal Sarpa Yoga and without analysing your horoscope for its correctness, straightaway gives a cheap and easy analysis saying that KSY is responsible for it all and offers to get shanti done for it.

Unverified Horoscopes

Now see, if takes up the horoscopes of big people and makes big predictions. I had faced lot of embarassment when people asked me about Pramod Mahajan and one television insisted on my giving a prediction immediately on the available Mithuna lagna. Why were they anxious to do it without verifying bio facts ?

A student collected many of these predictions from published newspaper predictions and also website predictions. I was surprised. And to predict that he would be the prime minister or president! Is that astrology ?

I wrote on my website

“ It is not the first time that many astrologers have claimed that they have got the horoscopes from most reliable "family sources". Majority of them stuck to Mithuna lagna and predicted recovery.

But what a student passed on to me with Vrisha lagna appealed to me as correct and I privately predicted to friends that it was not a case of recovery and, at most, it could drag on only for a week or fortnight. I saw no chance of recovery at all. It is what I had written to Pradeep on 24 April.

(Written in parts between 25 April and 2 May)

Remedies: Upayacharyas

The commonest symptom of recognition is the haste with which an astrologer prescribes remedies and makes money. Instead of calling them jyotishaacharyas call them upacharyas.

Saturn the Publicity Agent ?

In recent months, some astrologers have been attracting attention saying that Saturn does not damage at all, ever. It is all the result of karmas and Saturn has nothing to do it is their explanation. Giving such a disbalanced explanation so glibly brings to the astrologer great publicity. What they do after this is a story better be not told.

Saturn has become a publicity agent for them, not a graha anymore.

There is a good looking female anchor not knowing astrology and the “Saturn expert” reeling off his predictions blaming all planets other than Saturn which pleases the listeners perhaps.
