WIKILEAKS: JOURNALISM OR VANDALISM

Open any news site as I do as a news hungry man and you find the nuclear dust of Wikileaks spilled all over, its coverage and its assessment. The gist of it all is that it is a verdict on America and verdict of Americans who have not lost their imperial arrogance.

Nearly sixty years ago there a book The Ugly American which was not at all a favourable picture of Americans outside USA. What good has it done to the world? The world does not change so  easily: the evil and arrogance inherent in the dominant US psyche remains unremoved but manifests in a new way, with a new strategy after such a massive exposure though a very huge lot of it still to be revealed. The nausea it has created will subside after sometime and will still haunt people.

Journalism as someone has said has become vandalism. The immediate effect of it all with be US diplomats will be “international untouchables” now,  the “antyajas” in  terms of Hindu caste system but world’s most powerful antyajas who can be despised, dreaded but will still have to be flattered and listened to.

Earlier we talked of the west as a permissive society, particularly the US society. The uncontrolled deluge of Wikileaks will lead to another expression about the west the “permitting society” which does not know how to control all this. Diplomacy, the desire and plan to manipulate the world to its liking, the dominant US motive, democratic in pretensions but imperial to its core, comes out in stark nakedness. World has known it. Wikileaks is only a certification of this fact.

As a commentator said “Perhaps it is also unsurprising that so little of this much-anticipated cache is red hot”.

All the material comes from the US defence department network known as Siprnet, to which an estimated 2.5 million US military and civilian personnel have access. Indeed, the leak itself is thought to be the work of a mere private, an intelligence analyst who was arrested and charged last June for an earlier public dissemination of classified US documents.”

And the conclusion is equally interesting and appears right “There isn’t a good word for anyone who isn’t wrapped in the starspangled banner. “

Reading it closely, all that has appeared so far is mostly tabloidese assessements which shapes the mass mind in the age of tabloids.  Why is the quality of these diplomatic so sensational, tabloidized journalism not diplomatic in depth and intelligence? Someone explained it thus: ‘What do American ambassadors do every day? Probably as Alexander Lebedev described during his time as a KGB employee in London, they simply read the papers to fill their cables’.

Why has it happened? It is because the international community, particularly diplomatic community will have to devise its strategies anew, as Saturn and Jupiter will oppose each other again.

On 6 December 2010 at 09:09.20 am Jupiter will transit into Meena. Saturn and Jupiter will be opposing each other again with Mars, additionally, aspecting Jupiter, ruining whatever is left of dignity and idealism in the strife torn world we live in. The results of this can and should be seen against the devastation of Wikileaks of Julian Assange, "the Robin Hood of hacking” as he has been described.

Better is to call him the Dushashana (of the Mahabharata) disrobing diplomats mainly of USA and making Hillary Clinton’s position very vulnerable and slippery in international arena.

It should be clear to everyone  that is not a failure of espionage as no secrets as they are classified by governments, has got revealed damagingly. The confidential communications have been collected and an avalanche of it dumped to create sensation by an anarchist called Julian Assange and his team.

Different countries and different people

USA: It is happening in the second and eighth house axis showing a picture of its disgrace as the Wikileaks revelations so far have been US centric.

Russia has its seventh house under affliction and its image has suffered most.

Israel safe so far cannot have relief because of its Kanya lagna.

China with Makar lagna has its third house afflicted and its aggressive intentions towards neighbouring countries and the already reported story of how it attacked Google is well known.

India’s greed will be a story fitting into the patterns of its episodes of corruption as the eleventh is afflicted.

Pakistan will have its foreign plots and, interference of USA already exposed, in news.

Will the world change? No. Old villanies will get draped in a new half visible attire only
